Is Your Car Ready for Winter?

Another unpredictable St. Louis winter is kicking into gear, but is your vehicle ready for the onslaught? The St. Louis Auto Dealers Association would like to remind you about a few tips for winterizing your automobile.
1.      Get an oil change. Some vehicles require different oil viscosities in different seasons. Be sure to double check before your next scheduled maintenance appointment.
2.      Check your tires. Make sure your tires are properly inflated. Traction will also be greatly improved if your tires have the correct air pressure.
3.      Change your wiper blades. The average lifespan for windshield wiper blades is approximately one year. If you see streaking on your windshield, it’s a good idea to go ahead and invest in new blades.
4.      Evaluate your antifreeze mixture. Your radiator should contain a 50% water-50% coolant mixture. Stop by your dealer for a quick check if you’re not sure.
5.      Examine your battery. It’s possible that normal driving has led to the deterioration of your battery’s connections and posts. You also want to be sure that your battery contains the proper amount of water and that it can hold a charge.
6.      Inspect your belts and hoses. Not sure what to check? This one is best left to the professionals. Schedule an appointment at your local dealership and the maintenance team will make sure you are in good hands.
Don’t leave these things to chance. Find a dealer at www.stlautos.com and schedule an appointment to make sure your car is ready for the upcoming season. After all, we’d hate to see anyone get left out in the cold.
